Ph.D. Candidate
Marine Biology & Ecology
Liv graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University with a B.A. in environmental science in 2017. As an undergraduate, she studied the response of marine phytoplankton to ocean acidification using physiological monitoring and genomic techniques in Dr. Sonya Dyhrman's microbial oceanography lab. Liv started her Ph.D. in the MBE program at RSMAS in 2017, where she studies interventions for increasing the survival and fitness of reef-building corals during their early life stages. She hopes this research will contribute to reef resilience and inform restoration efforts. As the outreach coordinator for the lab, Liv enjoys sharing her passion for marine conservation with the next generation of ocean stewards through science communication, education, and citizen science. Liv is supported by a Ph.D. fellowship from the Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Science.
