Cailyn Joseph

M.S. Student
Marine Biology & Ecology

Cailyn graduated from Salisbury University with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and a B.S. in Biology. While in undergrad, she participated in a study abroad program with the School for Field Studies Center for Marine Resource Studies in the Turks and Caicos Islands and fell in love with marine conservation, field research, and the intersections between society and the environment. There, she completed a research project looking at Sargassum's effects on seagrass beds around South Caicos.
Upon graduating, she worked as an Environmental Scientist and Educator with the Maryland Coastal Bays Program and started the "Voices of the Coastal Bays" project, which partnered her organization with local small-scale fishermen to spread awareness of the importance of eating local seafood.
Cailyn started in the lab as an MPS intern and later switched to the M.S. program in Marine Biology and Ecology. She is looking at coral bleaching patterns in Miami-Dade county and the Upper Keys and exploring different hypotheses and environmental factors that could contribute to these patterns.
